The shipping-related industries are growing up with the development of COSCO fleet. Now, COSCO has established a good reputation home and abroad in ship building, repairing and container manufacturing industries.
I. Ship Repairing
COSCO Shipyard Group has world-renowned large ship repairing bases in Dalian, Nantong, Zhoushan, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Lianyungang, etc. The exercise of corporate management and technology-driven strategies helps enhance the capabilities and competitiveness of the company. It has successfully penetrated into medium and high-end ship conversion market as a major player in the industry and an important partner of shipping companies and marine oil service providers.
II. Ship Building
The Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co has achieved a distinctive development over the past decade. It focuses on the building of "high quality and advanced" ships, such as 5400-TEU box ships, 300000-dwt VLCC, 5000-CEU PCTC, 10000-TEU box ships, leading the industry in China. New records have been constantly made in major economic and technical index of the company, which has developed to be one of the major ship builders in the world.
Now, Dalian COSCO Shipbuilding Co, a joint venture of COSCO and Dalian city was established in June 2007, majoring in the building of large ships. The first ship will be delivered in 2010.
III. Container Manufacturing
COSCO is one of the major stockholders of the China International Marine Container Company (CIMC). As a container manufacturer, the CIMC has over 20 production bases in the north, south and east China, manufacturing dry containers, refrigerated containers and other special containers. The company is the largest, manufacturing the most diversified types of containers and delivering services to the top ship owners, container leasing companies in the world. Its products can be found in the major marine and land transport networks around the globe, firmly leading the industry in the world.
