On Feb 7th, the inauguration ceremony of the first meeting of the Fifth 21st  Century  Committee for China-Japan Friendship was grandly held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Senior official from Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japanese Ambassador to China read the congratulating letters from Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama respectively. Each parties' chief representative Tang Jiaxuan, former state councilor and Taizo Nishimuro, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Tokyo Stock Exchange delivered keynote reports during the ceremony. Capt. Wei Jiafu, President and CEO of COSCO Group as capacity of committee member attended the event.

On morning of Feb 8th, Capt. Wei chaired the second session of the meeting, speaking of the international economy and trade cooperation between two countries. A press release was held afterwards to brief medias with all attendees participation.

The meeting was successfully concluded in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province on Feb 9th.
